Here's the latest...

FURLOUGH LAWSUIT – Thanks to everyone who responded to our calls for additional written furlough-use denials! We included them with our written response to the state’s pro-furlough argument in preparation for our new March 19 lawsuit hearing date. In addition, we’re continuing to speak out against the governor’s current and proposed pay and staffing cuts at our state facilities: Several dozen Metro CAPT members hit the streets this Wednesday for the union’s latest rally.

BARGAINING NEWS – CAPT’s Executive Committee – comprised of State President Tony Myers, State Vice President/Sonoma Chapter President Caron Ewald and State Secretary-Treasurer/Napa Chapter President Brad Leggs – met informally with state representatives today to talk about getting back to the bargaining table. CAPT believes Governor Schwarzenegger should be talking to us at the bargaining table as required by state law, instead of in the media, in the Capitol or in the courts.

HOLIDAY LAWSUIT – Our holiday lawsuit hearing has been pushed back to April 23 as the governor’s attorneys continue their lawsuit-stalling campaign, trying to consolidate our suit with four others. We in Bargaining Unit 18 are especially affected by holiday cuts implemented last February by the Legislature and the governor, as most of us must work holidays to maintain level-of-care services in our 24/7 facilities.

As always, CAPT will bring you the latest news affecting you and your facility. Stay in touch with your chapter office, and keep an eye on www.psychtechs.net.
