Bill targets both LDC & FDC for closure

Newly introduced legislation by Sen. Gloria Negrete McLeod is calling for the closure of both Lanterman Developmental Center and Fairview Developmental Center by the end of this year.

SB 1196 calls on the Department of Developmental Services to close Fairview Developmental Center, Lanterman Developmental Center, or both, by Dec. 31, 2010. We ask, where are the services, and how could all this possibly be done in less than a year?

For the sake of our individuals, we say no!
